Buenos días a todooooos!!! This week has been so lit!!
I sincerely apologize if i dont get to respond to your email today, i am very busy 🙏🙏
Monday: Such a fun day. Karolina asked me what food we wanted for dinner for my final meal at their house, and so you already know we whipped up some delicious baleadas 🤣 Then I said goodbye to their family (Jadhirt y David y Alexis).
Tuesday: We went over to Elche to pick up the absolute GOAT 🐐 Elder Hulterstrom, who has replaced me in Elda. We had dinner w/ them and the STL's at this Venezuelan place and they gave me a gigantic plate of salchipapas which was delicious. Elder Hulterstrom and Elder Palmer went back to Elda and i stayed with the Elders in Elche (Aragon and Malachowski). We got to teach Kelvis, a super lit recent convert in Elche, about patriarchal blessings and talk about the plan of salvation. He is such a goat and is always wanting to grow and progress and come closer to God.
Wednesday: Basically traveled the whole day to Madrid 🤣 Had a 5 hour bus w/ Hna Ashton and it was pretty fun talking with her and nice to sleep for a bit 🤣 We got to Madrid and I got some left over argentinian empanadas which was lit and then talked w/ Elder Bohn and Larson and Rhoades and all those goats 🐐
Thursday: Got up and ready for the day, did a p-study, and then headed over to the training meeting, got stuck in the ascensor on the way but no pasa nada 🤣 Made it there, had the meeting which was wonderful, got to see my padre Elder Reidhead which was so amazing, I love him so much, and we had the reveals for the trainers and who the new missionaries will be with, and I am training Elder Oporto!!! He is such a goat, like fr such a crack. He is originally from Peru but has lived in San Sébastian for 10 months, and I dont think ive ever loved Peruvians so much than I have with him 🤣🤣 Bro takes the most random ingredients and puts it together and its the best food ive ever tasted in my life 🤣🤣 And more importantly he is such a good missionary!! He has such a drive to learn and to do the work. Every chance he gets to work he takes it. Ive learned so much from him, and i just love him so much, I am very blessed to be his comp. We headed out to Sevilla that night and got some peruvuian food in Sevilla, some delicious arroz chaufa.
Friday: Woke up and did a personal study and then ordered an uber to get back to the train station so that we could finally get to our area 🙏🙏🙏 It was raining like crazy, but we made it to the station 🤣 We took a 4 hour train to Cáceres and got there at about 4pm!! It is such a beautiful area. We cleaned up a bit and unpacked our things and then planned the day and picked up some essentials from the store and hit up the lideres here in Cáceres and did some street contacts and then had DC 🙏
Saturday: First full day in Cáceres and it was wonderful. Did some weekly planning and tried to get in contact w/ more members, and watched General Conference which was so so amazing.
Sunday: Such a good day. We were able to meet our mission leader over zoom and have a super good comp. Study and talk about the mission. Made some delicious food and then had some lessons over videocall and we got some super elect friends. We watched general conference again and it is just so amazing. God truly speaks through His profets and apostles. After that we went out to street contact and we found a family of 3 from Honduras which was super lit, they want to come to church and keep learning 🙏 We street contacted by the casco historico and it is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. Cáceres is such a beautiful city and I am so grateful and blessed to have the opportunity to serve here.
Came back and made dinner (tacooos) and then the Elderes from Badajoz came over to watch General Conference with us. Such an amazing conference.
Hoy: If you havent already, GO WATCH GENERAL CONFERENCE!!! You WILL receive answers to ANY question that you have!!! You will receive more guidance, more peace, more love, more joy, in your life. I know this because i have experienced it!!! And the good thing is, is that you dont have to take my word for it!! If you do it, youll know for yourself!!! God loves you and He wants you to be ready for the day when you will see Him face to face. So, watch general conference, and prepare now for that day!!!
I love you all, os quiero un montón, and I thank you all for all of your love and support. Above all, your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you all with a perfect and personal love.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Os quiero 🫶❤️
- Élder Powell
Email from Mission President:
Dear Powell Family,
This letter is to inform you that your son, Elder Samuel Powell, has been assigned to be a trainer.
As a trainer, over the next two transfers (12 weeks) he will nurture, teach, and fortify his companion in obedience, proselyting, following the Spirit, and learning the Spanish language. In the Spain Madrid South Mission, this assignment is viewed as the most important assignment because he will set the tone and aspirations for the new missionaries he will train, which in turn will directly influence our success for that missionary and the mission as a whole. For this reason, only the best and most dedicated missionaries are called as trainers. He will serve as a role model for his new companion and will hold a special place in the heart and memory of that companion.
Thank you for sharing your son with us. We love him and pray for his continued success in this important calling.
Warmest regards,
President and Hermana Obando
Spain Madrid South Mission
