¡Estamos en España!

Elder Powell and his first companion out in the field, Elder Reidhead

¡Hola! ¿Como estáis?

This week has been wild, so wonderful.

Wednesday we got into Madrid and it was so amazing, it felt like everything was different, and I don't know how to explain it but it even smelled different haha. I got to ride with the APs to the mission home and they are so nice, such wonderful and spiritual people. We got to the mission home and had so much food. We had jamón serrano, gazpacho, empanadas, and like 50 other things. We met with the mission president, and him and his wife and everyone else are the best people ever.

We also got to go contacting in the plazas in Madrid and in the metro and it was so fun, I was able to meet so many amazing people. We also got to go to a cathedral and an overlook of Madrid and it is so beautiful. We slept right across the street from the mission home and there was a guy from Madrid there with us waiting for his visa, Élder Matos, and so I talked to him for a while and learned some cool things.

The next day we got to meet our trainers and go to our areas, and I had the blessing of getting Élder Reidhead as my trainer and I am serving in Jerez which is sick, it already feels like my home. I'm still getting used to the "Andaluz" accent, but it is wonderful, and everyone here in Jerez tells me that "es lo mejor del mundo" so I trust them haha.

It's so cool how diverse it is here, I think by the end of my mission I'll meet people from every country haha. I've met people from Italy, Japan, Dominican republic, all around Spain, UK, Portugal, turkey everywhere in south America, Angola, and like 50 other places. It's been so amazing to meet everyone too, the ward that we serve in is already like my family.

We had a member lesson and we got to teach a family of a mom and two boys and they were so funny. They were telling us their cat's name, and explained that it was Don Gato, and it got changed to doncastrado (I'll let you find out why for yourself), and then eventually to Doncas. They are such sweet kids and so funny, everyone here is.

I've had the best food ever too, the fruits are literally the best in the world, I don't think I'll be able to eat fruit again outside of Spain. The food is so good too, we had a lunch with the ward to break our fast and I had no idea what 90% of the food was, but it was the best food ever. And there was empanadas once again, so so good. And they love to feed us 😂 when they were passing around empanadas I took one and then asked if I could have one more and the answer was "sí claro Élder, claro que sí," and then they ended up giving us every left over from the lunch once it was over 😂

I have seen so many miracles too, we got a reference from Puerto de Santa María, and there was a baptism on Saturday of a niño en el barrio, and she was able to come to that and she is so nice and has the kindest heart. Everyone here is so kind and loving and it is amazing. We also got to fill up the baptismal font with buckets which was sick.

Spain is so beautiful too, everywhere I go I'm amazed. We went contacting last night in the main part of Jerez and it was so beautiful, everyone is like always outside, especially around like 8-10pm, and it's so amazing to see so many people, and it's so beautiful too. When we went out we saw at least like 5 different cathedrals within like 15 mins, and they all look super cool.

The Spirit is so strong too, there is a bunch of rejection but there are so many people that are waiting to hear the gospel and are looking for it and love it, and the Spirit is so strong with them and it is so amazing to see the strong testimonies of others.

I know that the Lord is with all of us and working with all of us. He is always at the door knocking, we just have to let Him in. In conclusion, stay close to the Lord and your life will be blessed, whether you can see it or not, you will be so blessed. I love you all, feel free to write me anytime, and I will respond as soon as possible.

Os quiero ❤️
