Elder Powell with Elder Reidhead
¡¡Hola a todos!!
This week and a half has been so amazing, I wish I had the words to describe.
So much has happened, so I'll try not to make this too long 😂
We have messaged some people that had baptismal dates in the past but never got baptized, and it is so crazy to see how they wouldn't answer any texts from the missionaries for months, but then answer ours and want to learn more.
We have had some amazing lessons too. I was praying one night to be able to connect with the people more here, cause sometimes the accents are wild 😂 But the next day we had a lesson with a guy named John, and he is from Gambia, and he speaks english. It was so cool to be able to talk with him and show him around the church. We showed him a video of the first few chapters of the Book of Mormon, and he was so interested and it was just so cool to see the look on his face while watching it. He was telling us how he is shy and he didn't talk too much, but after the video ended he said "I want to learn more," and the Spirit was just so strong and it was so amazing.
Later that day we had a lesson with our friend named Javier, who is a Spaniard, and he is also a freemason. We taught him the plan of salvation, and the Spirit was so strong. He said he was first interested in the church cause he heard that Joseph Smith was a freemason. But he told us that he is like an onion, and he just keeps getting more and more interested. He said it took 30 years for him to join the freemasons, so he said he hopes we have about 20 years for him. He also shared some more personal experiences, and the Spirit was so so strong as we were able to testift. Yesterday he sent us a message out of nowhere saying how he is already seeing the changes in his life after reading the book of mormon for only two days. We asked him what changes he has seen and he sent like 10 different, super cool things.
I think it was the next day that we had a lesson with a guy named Daniel. He is from Puerto Real and he took a train all the way to Jerez just to have a lesson with us. We talked with him about the doctrine of Christ, and he asked a bunch of really good questions, like how we show our faith and why we chose to serve missions. His faith and desire touched me a lot. We showed him a scripture in the Book of Mormon, and he read it out loud and then he just kept reading. That has happened so many times with so many people. The word of God is worth more than all the treasures of the world.
We had a lesson with a girl named Adela, and she also brought her boyfriend. She is colombuian venezualan, and her boyfriend is a Spaniard. It was super funny cause we met in a plaza and then they went and sat down at a bar, so we got to teach them the restoration at a bar which was wick 😂 The Spirit was very strong as well, and we gave them both Book of Mormon's and she had us sign them which was pretty fun. We wrote our testimonies on them too and she was super touched. She said they were beautiful. Later on that day we gave a picture of Jesus to this mom and her daughter, and her daughters face just lit up when she saw Him.
We had a lesson yesterday with a guy that had a baptismal date almost exactly a year ago, but never got baptized. He told us a bunch of things about his life, and he has been reading the Book of Mormon for the past two days as well, and so we were able to answer his questions and then read with him, and he also said how he has already felt so much more peace and joy in his life from reading the Book of Mormon.
There are so many other things that have happened, but I figured I would have this email be focused on the lessons and some of the miracles I have seen.
God is in every good thing. He loves you and He wants you to come unto Him. I know that He is our Father in Heaven. He knows all of you personally and perfectly. I would urge you all to read the Book of Mormon daily, and prayerful. Pray to know if it is true. Pray to have the Spirit. It will change your life. I love you all, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
