"Stuck In An Elevator + Elder Bednar?!"

Hola a todos!!

I have no idea how it is P-Day already, it feels like so much has happened but it has gone by so fast

On Saturday we were able to obtain the box of cookies
(mucho gracias a mi madre). It was our first full day of Spanish and it went amazing, I am,very grateful to have una maestra that served her mission in barcelona so i can nail la zetha haha.

Sunday was amazing as always. They played some of my favorite hymns in sacrament meeting. Throughout this whole week i saw so many tender mercies from the Lord. Go and do is one of my favorite things here at the MTC, if not my favorite. I was able to study about the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is the redeemer of our souls. Por medio de Jesucristo, podemos estar feliz y podemos recibir gozo y consuelo en nuestras vidas. I know that Jesus is the Christ, and I know that He loves each and every one of us. Él murió por usted, para que usted puede regresar con Dios, y Él le conoce personalmente a usted.

Some of Elder Powell's favorite hymns

Monday was wonderful, I experienced the gift of tongues so many times. I know that I cannot be a missionary on my own, but if I rely on Christ then He will allow me to be the best I can be. I started getting sick on Monday, and I just kept feeling worse and worse throughout the day, HOWEVER, the day was super fun 😂 When our 9pm class ended, we went to the elevator to go back to our dorms, and I guess like 20 people were too, which is normal. But when we were going down the elevator stopped at the 2nd floor, and the doors in front of us opened but the doors on the 2nd floor didn't. So we talked through the doors and after about 10 mins or so we were able to get out. The people in the elevator were super cool and they are going to Tahiti speaking French and Tahitian so it was super cool to talk to them and now we can say that we got stuck in an elevator haha.

Tuesday I woke up feeling super sick, and so I slept in for a little bit and took as much medicine as possible. My companion and district are so amazing and I am so grateful for all of their love and support to me, as well as all the people who aren't in my district who show me so much love. I got a message from Charles (alofa atu uso), my sister and my mom, and the fact that all of them messaged me while i was stuck in my room feeling horrible was a testament that God knows me. I went to the doctors, and unfortunately they were closed for training, so we went to the front desk and they called two doctors and they sadly didn't answer, so we went back to the room and i got an email that one of them called back but i figured that mucinex and sleep was helping enough, and i was able to go to the second half of class, AND Elder Bednar came to the MTC for our devotional. His talk was about the Book of Mormon and it was so amazing. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and I know that if you prayerfully read the Book of Mormon then you can gain that same witness, and I can promise that the Book of Mormon will change your life. I sadly didn't get to sing in the choir cause of my sickness, but they sounded amazing, exactly like the Tabernachle Choir.

Wednesday I was feeling much better, but I still felt super sick so I slept in again, but I saw so many tender mercies from the Lord. I know that He knows me and He knows you, personally, better than we know ourselves.

Thursday was wonderful, I was able to play volleyball for like 5 minutes which always makes me happy, and i was able to get up at 6:30 and not sleep in, so that was wonderful, it felt so great to get back into the swing of things. I also met someone from West Valley which was so cool, it was nice to talk about WVC for a bit, and the conversation was in Spanish so that made it even better, and the Spirit was so strong as we shared our favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon in Spanish and our testimonies.

Today has been amazing so far, and I know that it will keep being amazing. We were able to do sealings in the temple and it was my first time so it was such an amazing experience, the Spirit was so strong. The first sealer was Tongan and he reminded me of back home and my Tongan Famili back home (ofa lahi atu ma'u pe). It's been great to Facetime my family, I am so grateful for them and I love them so much.

In conclusion, the Lord knows you, and He knows exactly what you need and when you need it. Trust in Him. I love you all and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amén.

Nos vemos
